Welcome to Day #5 of our “Spring Fling” series!!

First, I am super excited to be headed to Dallas today for the “Blissdom” conference!  I am Texas bound, y’all!  I can’t wait to connect with some of my “Bloggy”  friends again and to also finally meet some of my other favorite online friends in person for the first time.  It is going to be a blast!

And it has already been a great week so far!!  I teamed up with some AMAZING gals and they have been sharing some fun ideas for Spring and Easter all week.

Yesterday Cheryl shared her DIY Flower Topiary and now it’s my turn to wrap this party up with an easy and budget friendly Spring Wreath and some really cute Spring Votive Holders which are {kind of} a Pier One knock-off

For the wreath, I started with the following:

  • Grapevine Wreath Form (used 40% off  coupon at JoAnn – $2.43)
  • Flower Sprig (on sale for 50% off at JoAnn – $2.00)
  • Mini faux eggs (from my thrift store adventure  – .50 cents!)
  • Green Spanish Moss (used 40% off  coupon at JoAnn – $1.49).  I have a LOT leftover, too!

I simply laid out the moss, flowers and eggs where I wanted them and then hot glued everything down (and only burned my finger twice – ouch!).  Careful with the hot glue and that Spanish moss is a bit messy so try to make this one outside!

Easy Peasy!   And she turned out so pretty too!

I looped some green ribbon through the back of the wreath and added a sweet, little fabric flower that I had in my craft supplies.

Next week you will see how I incorporate the wreath into my Spring Mantel project – I can’t wait to show you!  Now it’s on to some fun Spring votive holders.

A few weeks ago, I found these plastic eggs in the dollar bin at Target and they even came with the raffia too. Bonus!

Then I saw these Easter Votive Holders at Pier One and got a little inspiration.  Oh yes, theirs are SUPER cute.  And they are also $12.95 each. Mine cost about $.50 cents each to make and there you have it.  Either way, they inspired me to use what I had on hand to make these and that is what it’s all about! (sorry, no it’s not the Hokey Pokey…  It’s DIY inspiration.  That’s “what it’s all about”).

First, I took a cardboard box and cut out the little round bases.  I have tons of candles and holders all over the place – you can use whatever little votive or tea light holders that you have.  I traced the bottom of the candle as a template and then a larger circle and cut it out.  If I had felt like driving to JoAnn (AGAIN) I could have bought mini grapevine wreaths, but I just didn’t.  But you certainly could and they aren’t very expensive either!

Next I took the raffia and started hot gluing that down to form a “nest”.

Yeah, I know.  Let’s put straw-like material near a hot flame (don’t tell the scarecrow).  I won’t leave them unattended while burning and you don’t do that either.

Once again, I took the “faux” eggs and used hot glue to secure them around the base.

At first I was just going to add a few eggs but I did end up going all the way around in the end.  I used some of the smaller eggs and greenery that were left over from the making the wreath.   They turned out so cute and are going to look great on the table for Easter lunch!

And maybe on my Spring Mantel…

I hope you are inspired by all of the amazing DIY projects and crafts this week!  I’ll post a recap tomorrow with all of the links in case you missed anything.  Can’t wait to share about my Texas adventure too!

xoxo,

Claire

  1. These are adorable! Perfect for Easter brunch decorations! It was so fun meeting you last weekend too! :)
    Mackenzie :)

  2. I can’t believe you found those speckled eggs at Target–I’m a little jealous! What a steal.

Those turned out really, really cute!

  3. I like all your spring ideas! The faux mantle is perfect for a large wall. Maybe I could add a mantle to my real fireplace. That would give me another place to display seasonal ideas. Mmm.

    • Hmmm… well just let us know when you decide to tackle THAT “little project” so we can make sure we’re out of town. ;) It’s actually not a bad idea – probably wouldn’t cost too much in materials and labor either! :) xoxo
