This post brought to you by Miracle-Gro. As always, all opinions are 100% mine.
If you saw my Crispy Eggplant Parmesan recipe you know that we are pretty excited to have had such success with our happy little patio container garden project. For years I would always see articles and posts on amazing gardens and I wanted to try it for the longest time but I kept putting it off.
When I finally embraced the idea of a container garden last Spring I was a little worried at first thinking it wouldn’t really work. We’ve always grown fresh herbs, but vegetables?
Well I could not have been more wrong. Our little garden is absolutely thriving and we’re harvesting fresh herbs and vegetables every week or so and it’s so rewarding – especially since the kids get to help out too.
Sometimes you just have to take that first step and try something new. I was recently re-inspired again by Miracle-Gro’s The Gro Project. Garden projects should not be complicated or frustrating. Miracle-Gro wants to simplify gardening for a whole new class of gardeners and show that it can be easy, fun and enjoyable.
For our patio garden, we selected various sizes of containers and picked a sunny spot. We use Shake’n Feed All Purpose Plant Food and have had pretty amazing results.
Our Cilantro, Oregano, Thyme, Rosemary and Basil are absolutely flourishing as well. We made a little Caprese salad for lunch this weekend with our leftover Buffalo mozzarella and our basil and tomatoes.
I love that we are all involved as a family and now everyone puts in requests as to what we should try next. High on the list? Carrots and Romaine lettuce. So we’ll see how that works out but I do know I am not afraid to try it now!
