Holiday Home Tour & DIY Pepperberry Ornament Placecards

Decorated Pepperberry Wreath and Home Tour at ALittleClaireification.com #Holidays #Crafts #DIY

Well, hi there!  I actually wasn’t expecting holiday guests for another couple of weeks but that’s perfectly ok, my friend, because I’m just so glad you’re here.  I’m joining a bunch of fabulous bloggers – 30 in total! – on a 12 Days Of Christmas Home Tour.

Each of our posts is a little different and mine isn’t really a tour so much as a few of my holiday highlights.  I added an ornament hanger I found for 75% off after Christmas last year to an older Pepperberry wreath and it looks so festive on the front door.

You’ll see our tree right as you walk in – it’s trimmed in blues and greens this year.  The boys may have slipped a random red ornament in some spots and I didn’t bother moving them.

So come on in and make yourself at home.  Pull up a chair and take a load off and don’t you worry about a thing.  Mess up the throw pillows. Ruffle the bed.  Go on and use those “fancy guest towels”.  That’s what they’re for, after all.

None of that matters except that you’re here now.  I’ll make some cocoa and pull out some peppermint bark cookies and we can catch up.

Dark Chocolate Peppermint Bark Cookies…

As I was trying to decide how to approach this tour I realized that not one single room in our house is picture perfect or fully decked out for Christmas.  I’ll admit I started to panic a little bit and then I reminded myself that the holidays aren’t about stressing out over how “perfect” your home is and that every little thing is in place.  It’s a time to enjoy family and friends.

If you are holding out for perfection in your home you are going to inevitably miss some amazing opportunities.

Opening the advent calendar…

You may find yourself grumbling about the little things and becoming impatient.  You are potentially going to be so busy that you will suddenly turn around and it will be January.

What moments might you miss if you allow this to happen?

DIY Burlap Ornament Banner

Last year when I was a brand new blogger I did a little month long series called “The Holidays At Home”.  Looking back on that a year later makes me smile.  And cringe just a little bit too.   I had so much to learn about photography and everything else then.

The burlap banner above was part of that series.  I went back and “fixed” the images as best as I could.  It doesn’t matter – it’s hanging again now and the soft white lights on top make it look just beautiful in person.

DIY Pepperberry & Jute Trees

Last year I didn’t know enough about blogging to be stressed out about pictures and every other little thing.  With that year of growth and learning comes a greater amount of responsibility and sometimes “stress” to make sure everything is just perfect.

I mean, you’re here reading this so essentially you are my guest and I want everything to be “just right” whenever you come to visit!

Yet the “full circle” moment – blogger or not – comes when we not only realize, but also ACCEPT, that it’s never going to be perfect, is it?  The peace comes when you admit that it’s ok.

So our whole house isn’t fully “decked out” but I’ve prepared a few little touches.  Our holiday village that the boys love {as I edited this picture I realized the Elf was hiding in there.  My husband is a master at “Elf hiding”.

The Pepperberry Jute Trees above look fantastic on our simple Christmas tablescape.  I am a bit of a candle freak – I love them and can never have too many!

Why, yes.  Those may be vinyl place mats.  When your six year old wants to help decorate, you don’t say “no”.  You go with it.  ;)

Here are the easy Pepperberry Ornament Placecards I made.  I have extras so I can add your name too!

A clear glass or plastic ornament from the dollar or craft store.  A few berries and leaves inside.  Use a little round garland to rest them and sit them upright.  Silver and red Sharpies to create the name.  Easy.  I like easy.

Most importantly, I want anyone who stops by or who stays for the holiday to feel completely welcome.  I know that you don’t want to arrive and have me scurrying around stressing out while expecting you to relax.

Don’t forget –  your family or dear friends don’t really care if your house isn’t immaculate.  They just want to spend time with you so remember that over these next few weeks and take time to relax.

I’m so very glad you stopped by.  Let’s all enjoy the holidays, shall we?

You can see all of the stops along the holiday tour below.  These gals are so talented so make sure to check them all out!

  10. Claire! I love those little trees on your table they are adorable! I had to laugh when you invited us to use your good towels, I grew up in a home that had the do not touch towels in the bathroom too funny!! I love how warm and inviting your home feels :) You did a beautiful job!!

  11. It’s all so pretty Claire! And I’m happy to see that I’m not the only one who has a Christmas village. ;) Your centerpiece is gorgeous – and I love the burlap banner you made last year. 15. Ummmm…your tree is GORGEOUS. I love it Claire! Everything you said is spot on. It’s gone before we know it. This is the first year I don’t have Christmas cards or cookies done by now, and it feels good. We just have to let it go like a little birdie. By by birdie! Seriously…before I go…I love the wreath & little tree too. That pepper berry is lushous….yes, I said luscious … and I’m still not sure how to spell it! Merry Christmas to your sweet family XO

  16. It all looks wonderful, Claire…from the wreath to the tree (especially the tree – it is gorgeous!) to the tablescape, and everything in between!

  17. Thanks, Claire. This visit was very therapeutic…I actually feel more relaxed and less stressed than before! You are so right! Your guests really don’t care if your house isn’t picture perfect. Your house looks so inviting. I especially love the ornaments as place cards! Thanks for sharing :) XO

  18. Your door is so beautiful! I love all of the color, not just on your door but throughout your home. And those cookies sound so good!

  19. Am I the only person out here that does not have a “village” for Christmas? I will be honest, I was half expecting a beach theme. ;) It looks awesome Claire…thank you so much for inviting us into your home!!

    • Thanks Lisa!! Um, our village has like six buildings as opposed to Cindy’s 58 buildings and a ski slope. So, all things considered, you really aren’t far behind me if you don’t have any yet. LOL

  20. I love it, Claire! Loveyour centerepiece and placing setting. Love the ornaments as place cards, great idea!

  21. Claire, Your holiday home is gorgeous! I love every single thing. Your arrangement on your door is fabulous! It’s been a pleasure being part of this tour with you. Have a Merry Christmas!
