Hi everyone! It’s me Laura – ALC Beauty Contributor and and the blogger behind My Newest Addiction. I am back again bringing you a fabulous Do It Yourself Lip Scrub today.
Not only are lip scrubs simple to make, you probably already have everything in your pantry! I love these for myself and they are also a sweet, inexpensive gift for all occasions.
I use two main ingredients for my lip scrubs: coconut oil and sugar. You can use any oil you like really – I just love the way coconut oil smells.
You can also use whatever sugar you already have. Sometimes I use brown sugar but today I am adding in some color so I thought that white sugar would be more appropriate.
The ratio I like to use is about 1/3 cup of sugar to a little less than 1/4 cup of coconut oil. A little bit of the oil goes a long way. If you are just making this for yourself (one time use sort of thing) you can just take a dab of both.
If you are making a full batch of this lip scrub you just mix the two together. Nothing special, just stir until blended. I like to add in colors and essential oils.
Again, you choose what YOU would like the best. I have done a green color and eucalyptus essential oil for a more menthol scent which is perfect if you have a cold, by the way.
Since Christmas is next week I really wanted to use a pink shade and some Peppermint essential oil. I used about 2 drops of the Peppermint essential oil (you should use what you are comfortable with) and I squeezed a little of the Betty Crocker Gel Food Coloring in Neon Pink into the mixture.
I put some of this on right after I made it and it smells wonderful and the flavor is good too. Not that you should eat it, but I don’t see the harm in licking it off my lips! haha
Thanks for checking out my easy Do It Yourself Lip Scrub – I hope you get a chance to try it!
