Hi there, everyone! I’m Amy, from Ms. Toody Goo Shoes, back for another Home and Garden post here at Claire’s. Did fall sneak up on you, too? Between the 80-degree temperatures, and just being plain old busy, I haven’t been paying much attention to my calendar. October? Sheesh.
Last week, when I was setting the table for some guests, I realized that I’d totally forgotten about a centerpiece. It didn’t help that I was rushing around like a mad-woman trying to get everything ready, and had no time to do anything elaborate.
Oh, the pressure! What could I throw together quickly?
The idea kind of happened by accident. I was straightening my family room, by gathering up random things on a tray. As I was about to cart it out of the room, I looked down at the collection of flower pots, candles, pumpkins, gourds, and a faux leaf garland, and thought, hey, this could be my centerpiece!
Granted, the TV remote and empty coffee mug had to go, but it didn’t look half bad! That means only looked half good, but with a little prettying up, it could work!
I arranged the pumpkins, gourds, and garland with a little more care, and added a few pine cones, walnuts, and other fall garnishes. It took me about five minutes flat to make.
Fortunately, for my guests, that meant I still had enough time to hop into the shower before they arrived.
I don’t think this really warrants a tutorial, but just for laughs, here’s what I did, as if you can’t tell by looking at the pictures 😉
Put the candles into the flower pots…
Wove the garland around the pots…
And added the pumpkins, gourds, pine cones, and a few other decorative pieces.
Rocket science, right?
Sometimes I think that things like this turn out better when you don’t over-think them. No one can accuse me of that in this case, lol!
See you in November! We’ll be talking turkey, no doubt!
