Hey everybody! Mr. Claire here and I can’t even tell you how excited I am to dig my teeth into the brand new season that just started. That’s right, September is here, and it’s time for Dek Hockey! Wait, what? No, your eyes aren’t playing tricks on you – I really did just say “dek hockey.” What is Dek Hockey, you might ask? It’s basically another word for organized street hockey – played on foot, not skates, with one of those orange plastic balls. I play in a league every Sunday morning. There is a reason why our league plays on Sunday mornings. You see, most of the guys like to reserve their Sunday afternoons and evenings to watch this “other” sport that uses a ball that’s inflatable…inflation optional, as I understand it…which, while not NEARLY as exciting as hockey, is popular to watch on Sundays…also as I understand it. So it goes without saying that by the time I’ve played three tough periods of hockey in the searing Florida sun, I’ve worked up a man-sized hunger. I simply can’t wait a long time for a good, hearty meal. That’s where Campbell’s Chunky soup has me covered.
I’ve been eating Campbell’s Chunky soup for many years – their New England Style Clam Chowder is a particular favorite – so when I heard they had just introduced some amazing-sounding NEW FLAVORS – especially the BBQ Seasoned Pork – I had to go out and get some for my post-game meals. First of all – when Campbell’s calls these soups “Chunky”, they’re not kidding! The can is just loaded with large pieces of beef, beans, potatoes, and tomatoes in a delicious tomato-based broth. There’s enough there, you could say, to satisfy a football-sized hunger. The BBQ Seasoned Beef variety is so Chunky, in fact, that you can use it in a whole bunch of different ways – it’s that hearty! You can serve it on a bulkie roll, over rice, on top of nachos…
I like to satisfy my own hunger (which happens to be hockey-sized) with a can of Chunky over some buttered egg noodles. Because A) more and B) noodles. You can even add a little shredded cheddar on top if you’d like. Campbell’s is always coming up with new flavors and ideas, which is great because our season is 10 games long – I can enjoy a different meal every week! @CampbellsChunky
This easy recipe serves two:
1 can Campbell’s Chunky BBQ Seasoned Beef soup
6 oz. wide egg noodles, cooked to package directions and tossed with butter to taste
2 oz. shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
Simply heat the soup in a small pan on the stove top or in a microwave safe container covered with a little plastic wrap. Serve over egg noodles and garnish with a little cheese if desired.
